Bulgaria has no reason to fear a shortage of diesel as long as Lukoil Neftohim Burgas continues to operate and supply the necessary quantities for the domestic market, the Burgas refinery states in a position sent to BTA.
The refinery produces between 240 and 260 thousand tons of diesel monthly, while consumption in Bulgaria is up to 190 thousand tons. This allows domestic needs to be covered while exporting the surplus, states Lukoil Neftohim Burgas regarding diesel fuel exports and guaranteeing the security of the domestic market.
The company is categorical that the export ban does not create more fuel for Bulgarian consumers, but instead limits production and puts pressure on the refinery's efficiency.
In its statement, the refinery further states that the ban on exporting high value-added products such as diesel fuel and jet fuel leads to a deliberate reduction of Bulgaria's GDP and the internationalization of the Bulgarian economy, which slows economic growth, causes lost benefits for society, and directly affects the welfare of Bulgarian citizens.
